Four steps to become a CNA

1.    Complete an approved nursing assistant course

2.    Pass state licensing exams

3.    Apply for the license

4.    Submit fingerprint background check

In Nevada, CNAs are “certified” or licensed by the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN). The NSBN also approves nursing assistant training courses.

The first step is to attend an approved nursing assistant course. MAJEN’s nursing assistant training course was approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing in 2014 and is six weeks long (144 hours). Click here to see our enrollment requirements.

Second, you will be eligible to take both parts of the state licensing exam when you have successfully completed the course. The exam for a nursing assistant is administered by Head Master, an independent testing company, and is twofold; a knowledge examination (written) and practical examination (performing skills). For more information, go to www.hdmaster.com .

Third, you must apply to NSBN for your CNA license by completing the online application. For more information, go to https://nevadanursingboard.org/ .

Fourth, submit your fingerprints for a background check. Fingerprints can be completed at the Nevada State Board of Nursing office or an independent company.
